Home Heat Pump Page

The Heat Pump page shows you the current temperature in your home, your heat pump’s current operation mode, and how much energy your heat pump has recently used. You can also turn off your heat pump optimization during times that you want to ensure your home remains particularly comfortable (for example, on extremely cold days or when you are hosting an event).

To explore heat pump operation information:

  1. The Heat Pump Energy Use indicator shows how much energy your heat pump is currently using.
  2. The Heat Pump Details section shows you the following information:
    • Indoor temperature shows your home's current temperature.
    • Operation Mode shows your heat pump's optimization mode.
    • The schedule under Scheduled Controls shows the heat pump's next scheduled optimization.

To turn off your scheduled optimization for your heat pump:

  1. Under the Scheduled Controls section, click Override Schedule.
  2. When the Override Heat Pump Optimization page opens, specify the number of hours you want to delay the next scheduled heat pump optimization.

To explore energy use information for your heat pump:

  1. The chart shows energy consumption for your heat pump. Drag the bottom slider back and forth to see earlier and later time periods of energy use. If you drag an end of the slider, you can expand or reduce the time period that is in view for the graph.
  2. Click the View Details link on the chart to open the Energy Detail page, which allows you to explore more information about the energy use for your heat pump.

To edit your heat pump settings:

  1. Click the wrench icon to the right of the Scheduled Controls section.
  2. The Heat Pump Setup page opens and guides you through specifying your heat pump settings and preferences.

How does heat pump optimization work?

The goal of heat pump optimization is to minimize your energy costs while ensuring your home remains at a comfortable temperature. When you are setting up your heat pump on the Heat Pump Setup page, you specify both your cost vs. energy use goals and the minimum temperature you will allow your home to reach until optimization automatically turns off and your heat pump remains under your own manual control. You can also manually turn off optimization at any time to ensure your home remains particularly comfortable (for example, on extremely cold days or when you are hosting an event). When optimization remains on, the Consumer Portal automatically maintains a balance between the cost to run your heat pump vs. keeping your home at a comfortable temperature.
